Doncaster is home for us, so if you run a care home, supported living service or home care team in the area, we’re never far away.
We deliver practical moving and handling training at your premises, so your staff learn on the floor they work on, around the rota you already have. No travelling to a training centre, and no losing a whole team for the day.
Training that fits real care settings
Our moving and handling of people training is built for care teams, not office workers. Sessions are hands-on and cover:
- Safe principles of moving and handling people
- Risk assessment and following a person’s moving and handling plan
- Hoist and sling use, including pre-use checks and the “pause and check” step
- Choosing the right sling, and checking hoist and sling compatibility
- Slide sheets, stand aids and repositioning in bed
- Supporting someone who has fallen
- Dignity, communication and involving the person throughout
Every session is practical. Your staff practise with real equipment and are assessed on what they can actually do, not just what they can remember.

We bring the equipment
Not every service has spare hoists and profiling beds to train on. We can bring training equipment with us, including hoists, stand aids, profiling beds, slings and slide sheets. All of it is LOLER and PUWER compliant and PAT tested. Find out more on our Equipment page.
Across Doncaster and Yorkshire
We regularly train teams in and around Doncaster and across South Yorkshire, including Rotherham, Barnsley and Sheffield, as well as further afield in Leeds and York. We also travel across the wider Yorkshire region and the rest of the UK. See our Coverage page for more.
Building skills in-house
If you’d like to deliver moving and handling training yourself, our Train the Trainer course prepares experienced staff to train and assess colleagues within your own organisation.
What our learners say
Matt was really knowledgeable and taught me loads on a subject I have done many times before. Training was fun and engaging and really interesting.

Frequently asked questions
Do you come to our premises in Doncaster?
Yes. All our training is delivered at your workplace, so your team learns in their own setting, with the equipment they use every day, and nobody has to travel to a training centre.
How many staff can you train in one session?
We can train up to 12 staff in a single session. That keeps the group small enough for everyone to get proper hands-on practice with the equipment.
How long does a session take?
A session normally lasts around 3 hours, so it’s easy to fit around your rota without taking staff off the floor for a whole day.
Can you bring training equipment with you?
Yes. If it’s agreed in advance, we can bring moving and handling equipment for the session, including hoists, slings, profiling beds, stand aids and slide sheets. We deliver it and collect it afterwards.
Can the training use our own hoists and equipment?
Yes. Where appropriate, we build the session around the equipment your staff use in everyday practice, so they learn on the kit they’ll actually be using.
Do you only train care homes?
No. We work with care homes, nursing homes, supported living services, home care providers and other care organisations.
Can you train staff across more than one site?
Yes. We can coordinate training across several locations, whether they’re all in Doncaster or spread across Yorkshire and beyond.
Do you cover areas outside Doncaster?
Yes. We regularly work across South Yorkshire, including Rotherham, Barnsley and Sheffield, as well as Leeds and York, and we cover the rest of the UK too.
What legislation does the training cover?
Training can include the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, PUWER 1998 and LOLER 1998.
